Detroit completed the game with 79 yards on 25 attempts, averaging 3.2 yards per carry. Stats say the Lions had the strongest running defense in the NFL this year. That could not affect things too much, though, as the Bucs are a club that doesn’t anticipate getting much from the running game. The Lions’ main problem going into the postseason was their poor pass defense, which gave up the most air yards (2,735) in the NFL and was among the worst 3 in terms of rival average depth of target (9.3) and yards per completion (12.3). As expected, Stafford crushed the Lions last week, finishing with a season-high 367 yards, 2 touchdowns, no interceptions, and a 120.9 passing rating.
