Preview & Analysis: Giants vs Raiders 11/05/2023

Game Preview

Game Preview

In Week 9, the Las Vegas Raiders (3-5) and New York Giants (2-6) square off at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

The Giants’ awful weekend came to an end as they lost to the New York Jets 13-10 in overtime. With Tyrod Taylor (ribs) sidelined by the Giants, rookie quarterback Tommy Devito is the sole quarterback in the lineup. He made very few passes, and the G-Men chose to play to avoid defeat instead of trying to win the game. That seldom pans out, and in fact the Jets weren’t that bad to blow the game.

Daniel Jones’s eagerly anticipated comeback is almost here. The starting quarterback for the Giants was cleared to touch down on Sunday morning, shortly before the Jets and New York met in Week 8. A neck issue has kept Jones out of the lineup for the last 3 matches. Despite having some practice time last week, the seasoned quarterback was eventually ruled out.

On Monday Night Football in the eighth week of the season, the Raiders were a complete bust in Detroit. The match wasn’t even as competitive as the final result might suggest, but the Lions prevailed 26-14. The only thing that kept the score close was a defensive Pick-6 by CB Marcus Peters. Las Vegas only managed 80 rushing yards and 77 passing yards.

The NFL’s lowest receiving yardage per game for the current campaign is 105.8 for Giants wide receivers. This season, the Raiders have allowed wide receivers to average 132.4 receiving yards per game, which is third-best in the NFL.

The Giants are playing the Raiders in Las Vegas for the very first time, and this marks their 15th regular-season encounter overall. The Giants’ most recent road game against the Raiders was on December 3rd, 2017, while they were still in Oakland, where they were defeated 24-17.
