When Nottingham Forest hosts relegation contenders Everton on December 2, they will be hoping to pick up three points that will pull them farther away from the relegation zone.
Nottingham Forest has won one of their previous 3 games, 2-0 against Aston Villa, but then lost 3-2 against West Ham, and 2-3 against Brighton. Despite their recent defensive woes, which have seen them give up six goals in their last two games, Forest can undoubtedly compete with Everton in front of their home crowd. With just one victory since early September, Nottingham Forest has gradually but surely tumbled down the Premier League table to fifteenth place in the English standings. Four losses and four draws haven’t done much to help them escape the relegation zone. Although Forest leads Sheffield United, the bottom team, by eight points, their recent performance suggests that Steve Cooper’s team could use all the assistance they can get. Omar Richards and Taiwo Awoniyi are still sidelined due to injuries, and Felipe Monteiro is a serious doubt who will be evaluated prior to kickoff.
Conversely, Everton struggled mightily at the back as they lost 3-0 against Manchester United. Everton is once again in the relegation zone, so their previous victories away from home versus West Ham and Crystal Palace and a point from a 1-1 tie at home against Brighton have not meant much in the grand scheme of things. Nevertheless, the visitors can still find encouragement in those recent performances. It at least demonstrates that Everton, led by manager Sean Dyche, who began his professional career at Nottingham Forest as a youth team player before being dismissed without making a first team appearance, can grind out results on the road. Everton has played 6 away Premier League games, winning three, drawing one, and losing two and they gave up eleven goals while scoring nine.
