On May 21 Verona will take a trip to the Stadio Olimpico for their last match of the season against Lazio, and although this game isn’t of much importance for the standings, both teams will try to finish the season with a win in their books. Sarri will want to end the season in the best way possible in front of their fans this weekend, and with their Europa League place already sealed, the only remaining battle in 2021-22 is to finish above Roma in Serie A.
Tudor’s men will try to play as the bad guys, but other than that, they don’t have anything else to play for in this match. They haven’t been performing the best as of recently so scoring a win in this game seems really out of their reach. Verona is one of those teams in the Serie A that are already planning ahead and might make some changes for the next season, because it’s been almost 40 years since they won a Serie A title, which happened back in the 1984-85 season.
What might worry Lazio heading into this match is that they couldn’t score a win against Verona the last time they met. Back in October, Sarri’s side struggled way too much to get a hold of a lead against Verona, and the game didn’t finish in the best way for them, as Tudor’s side closed out the game with a 3-goal lead over them. Luckily for Lazio, the stakes are much different now and it’s safe to say that they shouldn’t struggle at all this time.
