Predictions and Analysis: Torres vs Duncan Feb 24, 2024

Game Preview

Torres vs Duncan Fight Preview

As soon as fighters step into the Octagon, they’re not just up against their opponent; sometimes the environment itself presents unique obstacles. That is something Scottish welterweight Chris Duncan will have to consider when taking on Mexican lightweight Manuel Torres for Saturday’s UFC Mexico City card main event bout. Follow this article to get the best martial arts analysis about this coming fight.

Torres Analysis: Strong knockout power

Torres was known for being unruly on the regional scene, but since joining the UFC he’s looked much cleaner. Landing some impressive knockouts he is likely to be a crowd pleaser in Mexico City. Torres will likely come out ahead early, as he could win this fight by first-round knockout. Duncan may struggle to keep pace with Torres and may find himself vulnerable when hit with one big shot from Mexico’s fighter. Both fighters are unbeaten in their careers and will fight at an altitude that is well outside their usual range – 13,500 feet to be exact, which is roughly equivalent to Denver’s Mile High Stadium.

Duncan Analysis: Aggressive fighter

Duncan remains optimistic that despite the challenge of competing at such an altitude, his preparations will allow him to perform to his maximum capability. To maximize performance at altitude he has worked out in an altitude tent provided by UFC Performance Institute which allowed him to simulate conditions he will face during competition in an octagon and improve conditioning significantly. Duncan has an aggressive style that should suit his high altitude surroundings; he enjoys closing gaps and unleashing powerful strikes, while also being an impressive grappler – with 1.78 takedowns per three rounds being evidence of that fact. High elevation can have an adverse impact on a fighter’s cardio and can make it more difficult for him or her to land the knockouts that their fighting styles typically produce.
