Fight Preview

Amanda Serrano and Heather Hardy will clash again in Dallas, Texas on August 5 for the co-main event of Jake Paul vs. Nate Diaz, in a fight that helped establish the sport of women’s boxing. Most Valuable Promotions announced on Thursday that Serrano will defend her WBA, IBF, WBO and Ring featherweight titles against Hardy in an exciting bout.
Serrano easily defeated Hardy during their initial meeting in 2019, becoming undisputed WBO 126-pound champion. Since then, Serrano has added victories over Sarah Mahfoud and Erika Cruz while Hardy has largely been inactive; regardless, Hardy would welcome the opportunity to face Serrano again in an event featuring two prominent figures in boxing.
Hardy and Serrano have both been at the forefront of women’s boxing in recent years, fighting hard for larger purses and increased TV opportunities. Although both have dabbled with mixed martial arts via Bellator with mixed results, their true calling lies with boxing; both recognize that this may be their last fight before calling it quits.
However, they remain dedicated to realizing their dreams of boxing. Together they’re working toward increasing interest in women’s boxing in an arena which sometimes doesn’t accept it or want it. Their bond is strong, and both fighters look forward to this week’s fights.

Although Serrano is considered a clear favorite, Hardy proves hard to predict. She is a tough fighter with plenty of experience under her belt and proven finisher; during their initial bout, Serrano managed to land several hard hits that hurt Hardy; there’s little reason to believe the second fight will differ significantly in this respect.
As opposed to most rematches, this one will feature both fighters at similar points in their careers. Serrano remains undefeated and boasts all of the tools to become an undisputed force in her division; on the other hand, Hardy at 41 has struggled since her return from Jessica Camara at lightweight; one bright side is that she has already defeated Calista Silgado and Taynna Cardoso both of whom she should give enough motivation for an impressive showing on this occasion.
