Christian Mbilli will be a great opponent against Australian veteran Rohan Murdock (27-2, 19 KOs) when they put the gloves on this 10-round co-feature bout on Saturday night from Quebec City’s Videotron Centre. Mbilli holds an unblemished 25-0 record and 21 knockouts under his belt as an undefeated super middleweight star.
Mbilli’s dominating performances against Nadjib Mohammedi, Carlos Gongora and Demond Nicholson have propelled him into the upper echelons of the division, where he currently ranks first with WBC, third with IBF and fifth with WBO. Unfortunately for Mbilli however, Saul ‘Canelo Alvarez holds onto all world title fights and this has left Mbilli fighting hard just to keep pace. For him to advance further towards world title fights Mbilli will need victory on Saturday to continue his ascent towards world title fights.
Rohan Murdock has proven to be an impressive professional fighter since making his debut in 2010. Over his first four years of fights, he completed 139 rounds, beut a few years later he lost to Zach Parker for an attempt at the vacant IBF Australsian title. Unfazed by these challenges, Murdock is taking on some of the best competition in his division and recently secured three out of four victories; including an exciting split decision win over Isaac Hardman in March to retain WBC Australsian status.
Mbilli will likely be the heavier puncher against Murdock, but that doesn’t guarantee victory. Murdock is an experienced boxer capable of withstanding even powerful opponents and fighting from close quarters as well as on distance using his jab.
