This season, Xabi Alonso has built a very interesting team. Leverkusen has the same number of scored goals as VfB Stuttgart (11). In three matches in the Bundesliga, Alonso’s squad has kept only one clean sheet while conceding three goals.
On Friday at the Allianz Arena, Leverkusen will play Bayern Munich, the Bundesliga’s top team. Leverkusen’s ability to compete with Bayern Munich’s veteran squad will be tested on the field.
A victory would give Alonso and his teammates confidence to make a run at the championship. For Leverkusen, an early loss may have serious consequences.
Patrik Schick, one of Leverkusen’s strikers, is out indefinitely with an injury. The 27-year-old has missed almost 24 games for Leverkusen due to his abductor muscle injury.
