The Atlanta Braves will face up against the Arizona Diamondbacks for the 2nd game of a three-game series at Chase Field. The Diamondbacks picked up a 6-2 win in the opening game, which snapped their 4-game losing streak. Luckily for the Atlanta Braves, they haven’t lost to the same team in 2 straight games since May 3 in a doubleheader loss to the New York Mets. This might give some hope for their fans even though yesterday’s game didn’t look good at all for them as Zac Gallen put up a good show for the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Humberto Castellanos will be opening up the game for the Diamondbacks as the starting pitcher. The 24-year-old holds a 5.22 ERA and a 1.34 over a 3-2 record. Castellanos took the loss against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Thursday after they scored 14 runs. The Diamondbacks pitcher allowed 6 runs on 10 hits and only managed to strike out 1 in 4 innings. But if we are being completely honest, it’s not something out of this world to see this kind of game as the Dodgers currently have one of the strongest offenses in the league, so we might see Castellanos look much better against the Braves.
The Atlanta Braves will send out Charlie Morton to the mound, making this his 10th start in the season. He is carrying a 5.28 ERA and a 1.53 over a 3-3 record. Morton didn’t factor in the Braves’ win over the Phillies on Wednesday as he gave up 4 runs on 9 hits, 1 walk and a hit-by-pitch. It was very clear that Morton was having a lot of difficulties against the Phillies offense, he allowed 11 batters to reach base while only getting 13 outs, he also gave up a solo homer to Odubel Herrera during the 2nd inning. Charlie Morton will have to put up a much better performance if he wants to score a victory against the Diamondbacks.
