Miami Marlins vs Washington Nationals: Picks & Predictions 4/27/2022

April 27, 2022

In baseball there are many things that could be put up for discussion, but as of right now, if there is at least one that is as clear as stone is that the NL Central is Mets territory and nobody else’s. Still though, with an 8-8 record for the season the Miami Marlins which includes their most recent three-game winning streak, the Miami Marlins have taken over 2nd place in the division and they seem more than ready to continue cementing their spot in the division moving forward. The Washington Nationals, last place in the division, will be themselves looking to snap out of a very negative six-game losing streak, which includes a loss yesterday against Miami, as they take the field at home to try and even out the series with the Marlins and snap out of their recent losing ways.

Game Preview

If you like hard-fought and grinding baseball action, then watching the Miami Marlins will surely give you a kick. The Marlins are showing that in order to win games you don’t necessarily have to play the flashiest offensive baseball around. After last night’s win against Washington, the Marlins showed that if there are two things you should never do against them, is sleep on them defensively and try to go after their pitching, because in both scenarios, the results might just end up being the same, you will not succeed. If the Marlins could just get more out of their offense, then this team would surely be picking up more and more steam, but hey, if there’s anything in the league it’s time and games to be played so watch for Miami.

Luckily for the Marlins, they’ll have RHP Pablo López, who just happens to have the league’s leading ERA with 0.52 starting tonight, which means that if Miami does their part right, Washington will have a world of problems trying to get runs on the board.

The Nationals are not kidding around when they show that they want this six-game losing streak they’re riding on to be over already. The problem is that from wanting to do so there’s quite a road and it’s one that the Nationals have not yet found a map to navigate through.

Both on the field as well as in their pitching Washington continues to show flaws that if avoided could end up becoming a serious turn around factor for the team this season. So, what’s the best way to go through all this? Winning at least one game and then moving on to the next which is what they’ll be trying to do as they send RHP Erick Fedde to try and lead the charge for the Nationals today, but in all fairness, if Fedde is not backed up by Washington’s offense, then the chances of a win here are slimming as time continues to go by.
