Game Preview

Today The Milwaukee Brewers and the St. Louis Cardinals will play the second game of their four-game series at Busch Stadium. The Brewers managed to score a win in their books yesterday after Adam Wainwright gave up four runs against them. Andrew McCutchen and Rowdy Tellez pulled off back-to-back singles, and Tyrone Tayler’s ground ball up the middle secured a 2-0 lead against the Cardinals. Even though Trevor Gott allowed a solo home run to Paul Goldschmidt, it wasn’t enough for St. Louis to come back into the game as the game finished on a 4-3 score in Brewers’ favor.

The St. Louis Cardinals will send out Dakota Hudson as their starting pitcher, making this his 9th start of the season, Hudson holds a 3-2 record with a 3.60 ERA and a 1.35 WHIP in 40 innings. The last time we saw Hudson on the mound was against the New York Mets last Thursday, when he allowed 4 runs on 5 hits and 2 walks over 4⅔ innings. Hudson has been struggling throughout the season so far, which is quite disappointing as we’ve seen him have really good games in the past.

Brandon Woodruff is going to be the starting pitcher for the Milwaukee Brewers in today’s game, and just like Dakota Hudson, this would be his 9th start this season. So far he’s 5-2, but his 4.76 ERA and 1.29 WHIP are some of his worst numbers since he debuted back in 2017. We last saw him throw on Saturday, when the Brewers faced the Washington Nationals, and he allowed 1 run on 5 hits over 6 innings. The 29-years-old right-handed pitcher threw 100 times against the National and 70 of those found the zone, and although Lane Tomas hit a solo home run against him, his performance ended up meeting the expectations.
