Both teams have a competent pitcher prepared for the decisive game, which could provide some excitement. It feels like anyone can win at this stage in the series.
The Texas Rangers defeated the Houston Astros 9-2 in the sixth game of the AL Championship Series, thanks in part to Nathan Eovaldi continuing his perfect playoff record, Mitch Garver and Jonah Heim’s early home runs, and Adolis Garca’s 9th-inning grand slam. As the critical Game 7 of this series begins on Monday evening in Houston, road teams remain flawless. Max Scherzer, the winner of 3 Cy Young Awards, will be faced against Astros pitcher Cristian Javier. At Texas, Javier defeated Scherzer in Game 3.
Max Scherzer is the Texas player on the mound. With a 13-6 record as well as a 3.77 ERA with the Rangers, Max produced another regular campaign worthy of the Hall of Fame, but injuries kept him out for a sizable portion of the year. In addition, Scherzer’s playoff statistics thus far are dismal and he just had a bad performance facing the Astros. But because of contests like this, pitchers like Scherzer are compensated handsomely, and it is anticipated for Mad Max to appear here.
Houston will once more introduce Cristian Javier to the hill. Although Javier’s stats throughout the course of the regular season were decent, they simply lagged behind Scherzer’s. He has posted a 1.69 ERA over 10.2 innings throughout the playoffs, though, proving to be an absolute genius. The Astros could be on the road towards another World Series if Javier can maintain this.
