On Wednesday night, the National League Wild Card Series between the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Milwaukee Brewers will resume. Arizona came back from an early setback to prevail in Game 1 on Tuesday by a score of 6-3. The best-of-three set in the Major League playoffs is now extended, putting the Brewers in a crucial situation. Freddy Peralta will start for the Brewers and Zac Gallen will take the mound for the Diamondbacks in this game, which is being held in Milwaukee at American Family Field on October 4th.
For the Brewers, the opening game went just as awful as it could have. Despite having 17 runners on bases through 9 innings, they fell to Corbin Burnes and Brandon Pfaadt, while closer Devin Williams struggled in his inning. With the team’s season on stake, Milwaukee will hand the ball over to Peralta since Brandon Woodruff is dealing with a shoulder issue that could prevent him from playing in the postseason at all.

Everything turned out for the best in the end, and the Diamondbacks are going to hand the ball over to their ace in hopes of making it to the NLDS. Gallen has pitched 14 innings, 15 strikeouts, only 6 hits, along with one earned run in 2 starts versus Milwaukee. As a result, he now has an ERA of 0.64 and an oBA of .133. This season, Gallen has dominated the Brewers, meaning there is little reason for that to change in this contest.
The Milwaukee Brewers’ lineup might not inspire much dread in their rivals, but lately they have done a great job of preventing the punchout. Milwaukee has had a right-handed pitching opponent since July 1 and boasts the ninth-highest K rate in the majors.
