Game Preview
Sunday’s NFL Week 5 game between the Houston Texans and the Atlanta Falcons will be played at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. The Texans recently defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers 30-6, marking their second straight victory. After falling to the Jacksonville Jaguars last week at Wembley Stadium in England by a score of 23-7, the Falcons are attempting to end a two-game losing run.
On Sunday in London, Atlanta struggled versus another AFC South opponent, losing 23-7 to Jacksonville. The Falcons weren’t able to rack up at least 10 points for the second consecutive week, drawing attention to the team’s offensive shortcomings. QB Desmond Ridder once more displayed unease within the pocket and displayed poor accuracy downfield. He had 19 completions with 191 yards, a touchdown, and 2 interceptions by the time the game was over.
This Sunday’s game between the Atlanta Falcons and the hot Texans might go either way. With the way Atlanta’s defense has performed throughout the season, Ridder won’t have to play if they are able to capitalize on Stroud and start establishing the run over Houston’s weak run defense. On the other side, if Stroud succeeds in getting Houston out to a fast start, the Texans will have demonstrated their defensive competitiveness and will be able to contain Desmond Ridder.
One of the more unexpected teams to start the season, the Texans thrashed the Steelers 30-6. Throughout 4 appearances, C.J. Stroud, a rookie quarterback, has passed for 1,212 yards, 6 touchdowns, and no interceptions. Atlanta will undoubtedly be challenged by Houston, and if the offense keeps sputtering, it might have a challenging day at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
The Texans defense, led by DeMeco Ryans, is greatly deserving of praise. They managed 3 sacks, caused a turnover, restricted PIT to only 12 first downs with 225 yards, and didn’t allow a touchdown. At 2-2 and with 2 significant victories under their belt, the Texans must be considered properly
