On Wednesday, the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Arizona Diamondbacks finish their brief two-game series in Arizona. In the last game of the series on Wednesday, the Dodgers will go with hard-throwing right-hander Bobby Miller. Miller has a 6-2 record and four quality starts in 12 appearances this year. He has a 4.26 ERA and has given up 61 hits in 63.1 innings.
Prior to the All-Star break, the Arizona Diamondbacks were the only team in the National League West Division. The Los Angeles Dodgers eventually overtook them. The D-Backs enter this series with a 5-17 record since the All-Star break. They’ve dropped to third place in the division, threatening their chances of making the playoffs.
The Diamondbacks will send right-hander Merrill Kelly to the mound. Kelly has a remarkable 12 quality starts for the season, contributing to his 9-5 record in 19 starts. He has a 3.25 ERA and has only given up 88 hits over 112 innings. In two starts this season versus the Dodgers, he is 0-1 with an ERA of 1.93.
