Texas Rangers vs Seattle Mariners: Odds & Analysis 4/20/2022

April 20, 2022

The Seattle Mariners are looking to make it two out of three wins in their series against their divisional rivals Texas Rangers at home as RHP Logan Gilbert will be gunning for his second win of the season on the mound for the home team against fellow RHP Dane Dunning for Texas.

In a division as tough as the AL West, with fellow squads like the Oakland A’s and Los Angeles Angels all bidding for the title of “King of the hill”, room for error is not a thing anybody can risk losing. This is why superiority in divisional series is a definite must throughout the season but especially early on when securing a winning record for the long haul is of the utmost importance.

Game Preview

After striking first and getting the initial win of the three-game series yesterday against Texas with a strong six-inning outing from LHP starter Robbie Ray, the 2021 AL Cy Young winner and newcomer to the northwest, after signing a whopping 5-year, $115 million contract, Seattle will take the field at home at T-Mobile Park once again to try and make it two out of three against Texas. Just like Ray, fellow newcomer 3B Eugenio Suarez made the most of his day against Texas by hitting
a three-run homer to put the home team on the board early.

While the Mariners are starting to show true signs of waking up and starting to get into their own personal baseball groove, which again is very important in a division that is showing early signs of being a tough as nails race to the end for the divisional pennant, the Rangers on the other hand look like a team team that is already showing signs that the bottom of the AL West might be their home for the season.

But not to worry Rangers fans, there is still hope out there if you believe in slow but steady progress. The Rangers showed signs of improved hitting, even if it came late in the game where everything already seemed to be decided. While the juice is there to get the ball rolling for Texas, lots of work will be needed in order to help starting pitcher Logan Gilbert secure his first win of the season after having his last start be a no-decision against fellow AL West Rivals Los Angeles Angels on April 14th.

Texas will enter this game riding on a four-game losing streak, as with all other sports, it takes one win to start turning the ship around, which is why the Mariners should expect a valiant outing from Gilbert and the Rangers today.
