Toronto Blue Jays vs Boston Red Sox: Predcitions & Analysis 8/25/2022

Game Preview

The surging Toronto Blue Jays finish up their three-game series with the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park after picking up 2 convincing victories. Toronto is back on top of the American League Wild Card standings and they have even trimmed their deficit in the AL East to single digits behind the Yankees. The Red Sox are all but out of the playoff picture and will soon be preparing for a busy offseason in Beantown.

Since former bench coach John Schneider took over as manager following the firing of Charlie Montoyo, the Blue Jays have gone 20-13. After taking 3 out of 4 from the Yankees over the weekend, the Blue Jays came into Fenway Park and continued their winning ways in Boston. The Blue Jays used an eight-run 3rd inning to cruise to a 9-3 win in the first game. Next day, Toronto came out on top in a 3-2 victory after 10 innings.

Looking at the other side of the field, as the season heads towards September and the Red Sox struggle through injuries and poor starting pitching, it has become evident that they will once again have to wait till 2023. Boston has been reduced to utilizing anywhere from two to three minor league pitchers this season as regulars in the team’s rotation. The results have been a sub .500 team that has lost all hope.

Trying to keep the Red Sox afloat, Kutter Crawford is making his 20th appearance and 11th start of the season. He is carrying a 3-5 record with a 5.14 ERA and a 1.32 WHIP over 68.1 innings pitched while striking out 67. The Toronto Blue Jays reply back with one of their best. Kevin Gauman is taking on the mound, making his 24th start of the season while holding a 9-9 record with a 2.99 ERA and a 1.24 WHIP over 129.1 innings.
