The LA Clippers (31-15) will take on the Detroit Pistons (6-41) at Little Caesars Arena on February 2.
The Pistons had a difficult season last year, and sadly, things haven’t gotten any easier. In their last game, they suffered a 128-121 defeat at the hands of the Cleveland Cavaliers. Unfortunately, the loss keeps the Pistons’ sad run of 8 straight losses in their meetings with the Cavaliers going. After recovering from an injury in late December, Jalen Duren has been a dominant force on the glass. In his last 18 games, he has averaged 15.1 points and 12.4 rebounds on 64.7% shooting. Since joining the squad via a trade on January 14, veteran Danilo Gallinari has also contributed to the team’s success. In the team’s defeat to Cleveland, he scored 20 points, his highest total since the season’s final game in 2021–2022. Isaiah Stewart (ankle) will not play in the upcoming game against Detroit.
The Los Angeles Clippers lost 118-108 to the Cleveland Cavaliers away from home, and they were unable to extend their winning streak to 6 games. In their most recent game, they defeated the Washington Wizards 125-109, demonstrating their ability to recover with a victory. With a 31-15 record as of right now, the Clippers are 3rd in the Western Conference. As they contend for the top spot in what seems to be a wide-open Western Conference, they are now 2 games behind the Timberwolves in 1st place. With a 23-5 record since the first of December, Los Angeles has been the top team. In what looked to be a load management situation, Paul George missed out of the victory over the Wizards. With the Clippers nearly at full strength, he is anticipated to return. The Clippers will go up against a very weak Piston’s team.
