The top-ranked teams that were not included in the NCAA Football Playoff will square off in the 2023 Orange Bowl on Saturday, December 30th, at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami between the 5th-ranked Florida State Seminoles and the 6th-ranked Georgia Bulldogs.

Despite becoming the ACC Champion and the unbeaten team, Florida State (13-0) and every one of its fans are incensed that Alabama advanced to the playoffs instead of them. The Noles’ had to rely over backup quarterbacks during their triumphs against Florida and Louisville due to starter quarterback Jordan Travis‘ season-ending injury was an important consideration in the committee’s choice to pass on them.

In Saturday’s SEC Championship Game, Georgia (12-1) lost to Alabama, ending its hopes of winning three straight titles. The Bulldogs’ 29-game winning streak came to an end with the loss, and in the form of consolation, they are going to have to make do with the Orange Bowl.

Georgia’s offense amassed 321 yards of total offense in the game, scoring three touchdowns on the run against Alabama. They completed their 29 passing attempts for an average of 11.6 yards per reception on third down, going 4/12 overall. Carson Beck, the squad’s quarterback, contributed one score on the ground but no throwing touchdowns in the team’s defeat against Alabama. 243 passing yards and a completion rate of 72.4% were highlights of his total performance.

After 41 attempts, the Seminoles’ offense finished the game against Louisville with 177 running yards along with a running touchdown. Sadly, after 21 attempts, their passing game only managed to gather 55 yards without finding the end zone. Brock Glenn did not deliver a touchdown pass versus Louisville, but he did throw for 55 yards over them. With a passing percentage of 38.1%, he received an overall passer rating of 46.33.
