Akron’s three costly turnovers were the deciding factor. The fourth overtime in Akron ended without a touchdown, while Indiana scored on a 2-point conversion.
Akron’s DJ Irons has thrown for 586 yards this season, scoring two touchdowns and throwing three interceptions. Lorenzo Lingard is Akron’s best rusher, and Jasaiah Gathings is the team’s highest receiver with 181 yards. Bryan McCoy, a linebacker, leads the defense with 37 tackles. The Akron defense has eight sacks and four picks against the quarterback.
The Buffalo have one of the weakest defenses in NCAA football, therefore Akron should win their home game against them. The Buffalo Bills, who allow 44.5 points per game on average, will face an Akron Zips team that has covered the spread in five of its last seven games despite scoring only 18.8 points per game and allowing 27.3 points per game, a difference of more than 17 points. Prediction: The Akron Zips win and cover the spread by a score of 33-20.
