The Baylor Bears will be looking to win at home against the Texas Tech Raiders on Saturday, October 7th at McLane Stadium in Waco, Texas.
The Bears enter this contest with a 2-3 record for the year. When the Bears fought the UCF Knights in their most recent game, they prevailed 36-35. Blake Shapen ended the game with 293 yards on 21 of 34 passes. He also scored 1 touchdown. His average passing attempt yardage was 8.6, and he didn’t throw any interceptions. For Baylor, Richard Reese carried the football 16 times totaling 100 yards, averaging 6.3 yards per carry.
In order to defeat Texas Tech, which is coming off its greatest performance of the year, Baylor has to fix some serious defensive issues. The Bears’ rushing defense has been the weakest in the Big 12 so far this year, and Texas Tech recently pounded a Houston squad with 239 running yards. It’ll be a hard day for Dave Aranda’s team on Saturday if TTU has that sort of performance in Waco.
Texas Tech has to resolve their road problems this season. The Red Raiders remain 2-1 at their own stadium, and their lone setback came despite a heroic effort versus an excellent Oregon squad. Tech has lost to Wyoming and West Virginia while away, though, and is 0-2 overall. Texas Tech wants to show that it is capable of winning away from Lubbock since the schedule becomes much tougher beginning next week, while Baylor feels great about themselves following a stunning comeback win last week.
The Red Raiders defeated the Houston Cougars 49-28 in their most recent game, which took place at home. With 22 carries to earn 106 yards (averaging 4.8 yards per attempt), Tahj Brooks turned out the Red Raiders’ top rusher. Behren Morton finished the game 14 of 22 for 161 yards and 2 touchdowns. He finished the game with no interceptions and received a quarterback rating of 155.1.
