Two 1-3 teams will face off at the State Farm Stadium in Glendale when the Cincinnati Bengals and Arizona Cardinals play each other this weekend. This AFC vs NFC match featuring two poorly performing teams might actually get interesting given the circumstances. Joshua Dobbs and Joe Burrow will be leading the offense for these teams and the oddsmakers have the Bengals as clear favorites despite playing on the road.
For Kliff Kingsbury and the Cardinals, it’s been a rough start to the season. However, the Cardinals have faced some tough competition. They started their season with a 20-16 loss against the Commanders who have surprised a few fans. They then narrowly lost against the Giants in a 31-28 defeat, managed to outclass the Dallas Cowboys and beat them 28-16, and got smashed 35-16 by the San Francisco 49ers. This last team really outclassed them but the Bengals are also 1-3 and should be a much easier foe than what they’ve had to deal with recently.
The Bengals had a horrendous start to the season suffering from a 24-3 defeat against the Browns. In that game Deshaun Watson managed 154 passing yards while Joe Burrow only got 82. The Bengals then went on to have a competitive game against the Ravens but still fell short from victory. After getting a Week 3 victory against the Rams, the Bengals fell from grace once again, in this case against the Tennessee Titans in a 27-3 game that for the Begals should feel eerily reminiscent of their first loss of the season against the Browns.
Both teams are looking to claw back into the middle of their Conference standings but it’s looking like a grim path, one that will start this weekend as one of these teams should come out with their second victory of the season. As stated, bookies have the Bengals as the favorites, but their recent performances do leave a bad aftertaste.
