This Sunday, the Dallas Cowboys will travel to Lincoln Financial Field to play the Philadelphia Eagles. With a 5-2 record going into this match, the Cowboys are #2 in the NFC East. The Cowboys, who most recently defeated the Los Angeles Rams 43-20 on the previous Sunday, are on a two-game winning run. With a 7-1 record, the Philadelphia Eagles remain the top club in the NFC East. Before this weekend, the Eagles had won 2 straight, their latest victory over the Washington Commanders 38-31.
The Rams stood by as Cowboys rookie kicker Brandon Aubrey, who is now 18 of 18 on field goals, continued his flawless campaign and tied the NFL mark for most made field goals without missing. However, the Cowboys also revealed a side to their play which they hadn’t displayed this season, a side that, if they can keep finding, will increase their danger factor. Dallas had a prolific offense. Additionally, the Cowboys’ offense led the 43-20 route instead of simply following the defense’s charge as it had in previous victories this campaign. If Dallas hadn’t benched its starters with almost 12 minutes remaining, the game may have been much more overwhelming. Instead, the Cowboys recorded a season-high 387 offensive yards.
Philadelphia’s Jalen Hurts is having an incredible campaign. In the Eagles’ victory over Washington in week eight, he passed for 319 yards and four touchdowns. The Eagles are a highly high-scoring club, averaging an even 28 points each game this season, much like the Cowboys. Philadelphia’s running defense is the finest in the NFL, allowing opponents to only gain 65.5 rushing yards per game, which ranks first in the league. A.J. Brown, an Eagles wide receiver, was outstanding versus the Commanders, catching 130 yards and two touchdowns. Despite their 7-1 record, Philadelphia doesn’t seem to have found their footing just yet as the defending NFC champs. The Eagles are still winning, but they can do better. They would take a multi-game advantage in the NFC East with a win over Dallas.
