Game Preview

In their season finale, the Baltimore Ravens will take on the Cincinnati Bengals in a game that has significant ramifications for the division and the AFC. The NFL confirmed on Wednesday that the Ravens-Bengals game will start early on Sunday. The game is extremely important for Baltimore for two main reasons, aside from the fact that it is a division rivalry.

The first is that the Ravens might still be in contention for the AFC North crown until the league decides whether or when the Bengals-Bills game will be rescheduled. The second is even if the Bengals and Bills game is postponed by the league and the Bengals win the division due to their winning record, the Ravens still have the No. 5 seed to play for, that’s if the Chargers lose.

Lamar Jackson hasn’t played for the Ravens in 31 days, and it seems unlikely that he will do so for the remainder of the regular season. On Wednesday, Jackson missed practice once more, and the Ravens’ coaches are as silent about his health as ever. Even though it surely won’t be a carnage like last season, the Ravens don’t stand much of a chance against the Cincinnati Bengals if Tyler Huntley starts once more in Week 18.

In their second encounter last year, Joe Burrow and the Bengals completely dismantled Baltimore’s practice squad secondary. Since then, the Ravens’ defense has become stronger and has even received some upgrades, including Roquan Smith and Marcus Williams, among others. Additionally, Marcus Peters and Calais Campbell, who serve as the foundation of the team’s pass and run defenses, could make a comeback in time for Week 18.

The Ravens have no chance offensively against the uber-efficient Joe Burrow and his elite wideout trifecta, even though Huntley might be able to make a few big throws throughout the game and perhaps complete a touchdown pass with the help of the officials (yes, we all know that Cam Heyward’s penalty was soft).
