The New Orleans Saints remain in the Superdome for a Week 9 Monday night showdown with the Baltimore Ravens. The Saints are coming off a 24-0 victory over the Raiders to move to 3-5 on the year. They’re tied for second in the NFC South and are just one game behind the division-leading Falcons, plus they own the head-to-head over Atlanta. The Ravens, on the other hand, are 5-3 and atop the AFC North. They’re coming off a Thursday night win over the Buccaneers, which Saints fans were quite happy about.
While the Saints played well this past week, the Ravens are a much better football team than the Raiders. New Orleans’ defense was impressive, but it’ll be a tougher task slowing down Lamar Jackson and Mark Andrews.
Maybe NOLA got things going after Alvin Kamara’s locker room speech following their Week 7 loss, but the Ravens are a good football team. This is going to be an incredibly tough game for the black and gold to win even with them being the home squad.
Baltimore had a mini bye after the Thursday game and while the Saints took care of a weak Raiders squad, they are still dealing with several lingering injuries to key starters. Jackson is finding his groove this season, and that’s not great news for the rest of the NFL. He’ll have a challenge against the Saints defense but will answer the call, and the Ravens’ defense will slow Kamara and the Saints’ offense.
It’s the Ravens’ second straight primetime matchup. The Ravens have won two consecutive games and are 3-1 on the road this season, winning at the Jets (Week 1), New England (Week 3), and Tampa Bay (Week 8). We can expect Baltimore to take the win home this week and make it 6-3 in the season.
