The New York Giants host their first game at home as they take on the Carolina Panthers in week 2 of the regular season at MetLife Stadium on Sunday. The Panthers are coming off a tough 26-24 loss in their home opener against the lCleveland Browns. Down one with eight seconds left in the game, Browns’ rookie kicker Cade York made an astounding 58-yard field goal to put Cleveland up for good. The Panthers are 3-13 against the spread in their last 16 games and have not covered in four straight games on the road or as an underdog. The concern here is the Panthers run defense was gashed by the Browns, and now they have to go up against a Giants rushing offense that has a healthy Barkley and is the top rushing attack.
In last year’s matchup, the Giants emerged victorious as they beat Carolina 25-3 in week 7 at MetLife Stadium. While the total soared to the under, you have to factor that two of the most dynamic running backs in all of football, Barkley and Panthers’ running back Christian McCaffrey, were absent as they both dealt with their respective injuries. Carolina now has former first overall pick Baker Mayfield under center and the Giants’ have wide receiver Kenny Golladay back in the mix after missing last year’s game.
