Super Bowl 57 was won by the AFC, and the AFC has won three of the last five Super Bowls overall (two of which were won by the Chiefs). Here are the current odds on favorite teams for the Super Bowl.
Kansas City Chiefs (+600)
Super Bowl 57 was won by the Chiefs against the Eagles by a score of 38-35. With victories over the 49ers and Eagles and a loss to the Buccaneers, the team has made it to the Super Bowl three times in the last four seasons.
To repeat as champions, Kansas City is the preseason favorite. It is widely expected that Patrick Mahomes, their quarterback, will repeat as NFL MVP. However, since the New England Patriots in 2003–04, no club has repeated as Super Bowl champions in consecutive seasons.
Philadelphia Eagles (+700)
Last season, the Eagles had the best record in the NFC at 14-3, and they blew through the Giants and 49ers in the playoffs. The team led the Chiefs 24-14 at halftime of the Super Bowl, but ultimately fell short and lost by a score of 38-35. Jalen Hurts, the team’s quarterback, will have a lot of burden on his shoulders to see if they can win it all this year.
Buffalo Bills (+900)
The Bills have qualified for postseason play four years running. Only once in that time have they made it to the AFC championship game, and last year they were eliminated by the Cincinnati Bengals in the divisional round.
The team has been among the top contenders and favorites for the Super Bowl for a number of years, and it is starting another training camp with high expectations that this will be the year it wins it all. Josh Allen, the team’s quarterback, will be looked on heavily to assist them overcome this hump.
Cincinnati Bengals (+1000)
The Bengals played in the AFC Championship Game against the Chiefs last season for the second year in a row. They won the first conference meeting they played in against their rival, but lost the most recent one.
The Bengals are optimistic heading into the season, but their success will mostly depend on quarterback Joe Burrow’s recovery from a lower leg injury he sustained in training camp. The oddsmakers still see this club as one of the best in the AFC for the upcoming season.
