NFL Game of the Year: Ravens vs Bengals Week 2 Early Preview

September 1, 2023

The Baltimore Ravens and the Cincinnati Bengals will clash in week 2 of the 2023 NFL Season. This game will take place on September 17th at Paul Brown Stadium in Cincinnati.

The Cincinnati Bengals must be thinking when will be their chance to enter the elite Vince Lombardi winners group, if it ever arrives. An indication of how transitory any group’s stint at the top of the league was when quarterback Joe Burrow pulled up in the training camp suffering a calf injury. Burrow missed three weeks of activity but is expected to be healthy for the regular campaign. Due to a last-second drive by the Los Angeles Rams, the Bengals dropped the Super Bowl 2 years prior. They were defeated by the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC championship contest last year.

The Bengals continued their offensive line improvement efforts during the offseason with an investment in tackle Orlando Brown Jr. Brown signed a $44.1 million, four-year contract. They replace Jessie Bates III and Vonn Bell by signing Nick Scott out of the Rams. Cincinnati has new tight ends after Irv Smith Jr. joined the team and Hayden Hurst departed. It was good to keep linebacker Germaine Pratt. Running back Samaje Perine was released, but Joe Mixon was kept after agreeing to take a significant wage cut.

The Ravens handled the biggest roster adjustment they needed to make before the 2023 campaign: they brought Lamar Jackson back. To be successful in 2023, Baltimore must make sure he starts at quarterback for as long as possible. Compared to the initial part of Jackson’s professional career, it appears differently. Greg Roman has been replaced as the offensive coordinator by Todd Monken. By acquiring Odell Beckham Jr. and selecting Zay Flowers in the 1st round of the draft, the team made investments in a receiver position that was lacking. In the fresh offense, Jackson indicated he expects to pass the ball more and run the ball less. It might undergo a complete change.

The Ravens spent the majority of the remaining picks from the 2023 Draft on defense. The ability to stop other teams from scoring quickly and force them to work hard for every score made Baltimore an excellent unit. With individuals including Trenton Simpson and Tavius Robinson, they strengthened an area of power.
