Both the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Las Vegas Raiders have started the season 1-1, so it only makes sense that they would play each other on Sunday Night Football.
Both the Steelers and the Raiders suffered significant player losses during Week 2 of the NFL season. Although Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb suffered a terrible knee injury in the game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Steelers safety Minkah Fitzpatrick also went down with an injury.
The Raiders’ outstanding wide receiver, Davante Adams, isn’t feeling nearly as well. Both players are expected to participate, which adds complexity to what should be a tight game.
The Steelers won a big game on “Monday Night Football” despite suffering a loss to the 49ers in Week 1. The defense had been exposed in that game. The black and gold defense scored two touchdowns despite the offense’s struggles and looked dominant.
After being humiliated by the Buffalo Bills by a score of 28 points, Las Vegas has been forced to rebuild. After being stifled for the majority of the game, the coaching staff will need weapons like Josh Jacobs and Davante Adams to produce their typical stellar performance if they want to return to the playoffs.
Two of the last remaining volume rushers in the NFL, Najee Harris of Pittsburgh and Josh Jacobs of Las Vegas, have underachieved. Najee gained just 31 yards on the ground in week 1 and another 43 yards in week 3. A year after leading the league in rushing with 1,653 yards, Jacobs finished with nine carries for minus two yards.
Incredible as it may sound, this news is sure to disappoint many fantasy football commissioners. It’s also a reason why the Raiders’ offense has struggled (they’ve scored a grand total of 27 points in their last two games). Without Harris, it’s unreasonable for Pittsburgh to expect second-year QB Kenny Pickett to lead the team.
