Carolina Panthers players are feeling particularly desperate after their season opener loss to the Atlanta Falcons in 2023. New Orleans’s strong defensive effort in Week 1 was the deciding factor in the Saints’ narrow victory over the Tennessee Titans. The Saints stifled Derrick Henry’s run game, allowing him only 63 yards on the ground and no scores while intercepting Ryan Tannehill three times.
The Saints’ offensive weapons, like Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed, appeared potent in Carr’s first start despite his lackluster performance.
The Panthers had a tough time against their NFC South division opponent Atlanta Falcons in Week 1. Bryce Young, the first overall pick in 2023, had a mixed first season in the NFL. The Carolina defense also had trouble stopping the run in the first game, giving rushing touchdowns to Bijan Robinson and Tyler Allgeier.
After the first week of the season, the Saints look like the better team. After playing a game, Young should be better, but he may still have trouble against the Saints’ tough defense. When on the road, the team will rely heavily on Olave, Shaheed, and the healthy Michael Thomas to cover the points.
