They were tied for 8th place within the NFC playoff standings after losing to the Rams in the conference record tiebreaker. In their game versus New York, New Orleans fell behind 3-0 at the end of the first quarter, took a 7-6 lead at the half, then dominated the Giants 17-0 throughout the second period to win. In terms of overall offense, the Saints led 296–193; they also gained 20 first downs against 12 losses and had a 33–27 to 26–33 advantage in the duration of possession. No turnovers were made by either team.
