On Thursday Night Football, the Los Angeles Rams and New Orleans Saints, two sides vying for NFC playoff spots, will square off.

The Rams stand the season with a 7-7 record and hold the second-best position within the NFC West. They have a superior conference record than New Orleans, which allowed them to hold the final wild-card berth in the NFC postseason picture. The Rams led 28-7 straight away in the final period and 20-7 at the end of the third quarter before letting up two points to tie the game. With a dominant second half, New Orleans overcame the Giants to win at home for the second consecutive match. The Saints’ season record now stands at 7-7. They are currently tied with Tampa Bay for first place in the NFC South, but the Buccaneers top the division going into this week due to their superior division performance of 3-1 to 2-2. They were tied for 8th place within the NFC playoff standings after losing to the Rams in the conference record tiebreaker. In their game versus New York, New Orleans fell behind 3-0 at the end of the first quarter, took a 7-6 lead at the half, then dominated the Giants 17-0 throughout the second period to win. In terms of overall offense, the Saints led 296–193; they also gained 20 first downs against 12 losses and had a 33–27 to 26–33 advantage in the duration of possession. No turnovers were made by either team.
