On Sunday, the Chicago Bears will take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers away from Soldier Field. Both teams are from the National Football Conference (NFC). The Bears are looking to bounce back after a disappointing home loss to the Packers. The Bulls gave up 38 points in their season opener.
Last season, the Bears managed only three victories. In Week 1, Tampa Bay scored a significant victory on the road at Minnesota. Last year, with eight victories, the Buccaneers qualified for postseason play.
The 2023 Chicago Bears season was very anticipated as everything was readily available to them. They would be playing their rivals at home. The departure of Aaron Rodgers. The game began, and they are now winless to start the season. The Bears’ trip to Kansas City in Week 3 is bad news, and a defeat tonight at Tampa Bay may put Chicago in an even deeper hole.
Bears quarterback Mitch Trubisky saw Packers starter Jordan Love throw for three touchdowns and 245 yards. The defense was terrible, as Aaron Jones racked up over 120 total yards and scored twice.
Justin Fields threw for 216 yards and a touchdown while also throwing two interceptions in the offense. Chicago scored on a touchdown reception by wideout Darnell Mooney. Mooney should see plenty of passing looks for the Chicago Bears today.
Before the seasons kicked off, it wasn’t crazy to see many people picking against the Buccs and instead going for the Bears. The Buccaneers had just lost Tom Brady, a great quarterback, and had replaced him with a man who hadn’t started in a while.
However, Baker Mayfield replaced him and did a fantastic job. Mayfield threw for 173 yards and two touchdowns. His favorite receiver was Mike Evans, who caught six passes for 66 yards and a touchdown. The likelihood of him winning NFL MVP is still low.
The defense for Tampa Bay was solid, as they were able to force three turnovers from the Minnesota Vikings. Kirk Cousins had a turnover and two fumble losses. The Philadelphia Eagles are up next for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday Night Football.
