The NFC’s new leaders, the San Francisco 49ers (10-3), will look to consolidate their position when they play the Arizona Cardinals (3-10) in Week 15 on December 17 at State Farm Stadium.
With a 28-16 triumph versus the Seattle Seahawks last game, San Francisco maintained their dominance. It was also the 49ers’ fifth straight game in which they won by a margin of at least two touchdowns. With a league-best 15.8 points per game, the defense is still among the best in the NFL, and the offense is thriving all over the field. With 3,185 yards and 23 touchdowns, quarterback Brock Purdy has proven to be the ideal leader for this gifted group. MVP consideration may be extended to running back Christian McCaffrey (1,461 total yards, 17 touchdowns), and receiver Deebo Samuel (3 receiving touchdowns, 4 rushing touchdowns) is a dangerous combination of rush and reception. The 49ers are led by stars, including Nick Bosa, Fred Warner, Dre Greenlaw, and several other outstanding players, even on the defensive end of the ball.
Although Arizona had a week off, the Cardinals are 2-2 since the return of quarterback Kyler Murray, and things appear promising. Murray still has four games left to show that he is the team’s quarterback and that the team doesn’t need to select a different quarterback in the upcoming draft. Arizona, who only average 17.7 points per game in 2023, has had difficulty scoring, but they recently defeated Pittsburgh 24–10 before the bye week. After being added back into the starting lineup, Kyler Murray has performed admirably, amassing 864 passing yards and 106 rushing yards in just 4 games. Murray’s favorite target lately has been tight end Trey Mcbride (610 yards, two touchdowns), who has outstanding hands and adaptability for his size. Murray needs to get back on his form to play well in this tough matchup.
