With a victory over Everton on game day three, Wolves won their first game of the season. This Saturday, though, when they visit Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park, the Eagles will face a significantly different test.
Wolves got off to a sluggish start in the new Premier League season, but last weekend’s hard-fought 1-0 road victory over Everton put to rest any fears that they may be dragged into the bottom three during the opening month. The West Midlands club, though, will be eager to build on that performance this coming Saturday at Selhurst Park.
Wolves scored the game-winning goal with three minutes remaining on the road at Goodison, and the team came away victorious. After missing nearly all of last season with an injury, the striker will play a key part for the team this year. The triumph marked the Wolves’ third consecutive victory at Goodison, and they’ll be looking to keep their winning ways going when they travel to face the Eagles on Sunday.
Crystal Palace started the season off on the right foot by beating both of their opening opponents, but they have since lost both of their games. The Eagles were able to salvage a draw away against Brentford in their most recent meeting, preventing a loss streak of two games.
They were the superior team for large chunks of the game and deserved at least a draw. In the EFL Cup, Palace got back on track in the middle of the week with a 4-2 triumph away at Plymouth Argyle after being down 2-0.
In their most recent meeting in April, Wolves prevailed by a score of 2-0. The victory broke a losing streak of four games vs the Eagles. During that stretch, Palace was undefeated 4–0, with 3 consecutive wins coming at home. Wolves haven’t had much success at Selhurst Park in recent years, and that trend is likely to continue this weekend.
