Mourinho’s irritation is understandable given that Roma appear to be at a loss as to how to break out of their rut. Frosinone has only played two away league matches this season due to the schedule, and they have earned draws in each of those contests.
It looks like another poor day for the home team, with Mourinho under pressure and Frosinone content to dig in and secure a draw. Aside from the thumping of Empoli, Roma has also had trouble scoring at home, as only three goals have been scored in their previous two home league games.
In addition, Frosinone have only scored once on the road in Serie A this season. Both of their away games have ended with under 2.5 goals scored and a rate of 0.5 goals conceded.
With an unblemished away record and a chance to move up a spot or two, Frosinone would benefit more from a scoreless draw. Mourinho will be worried about losing more ground in the standings as his team prepares to host Swiss club Servette in the UEFA Europa League.
Chris Smalling, an English defender, is one of at least four starters that Mourinho won’t have available for this match. Due to a heavy schedule, the home team will be rotating starters, with Nicola Zalewski and Andrea Belotti getting the nod.
Abdou Harroui, Francesco Gelli, and Sergio Kalaj are all out for the vital match for the visitors due to injury. However, considering the team’s recent success, Eusebio Di Francesco may want to keep the same starting lineup for this weekend’s game at the Stadio Olimpico.
