Game Preview

On Saturday afternoon, Torino will make the quick trip to face Milan at the San Siro. Fans of Il Toro are looking for a more exciting match this weekend after the team’s season opener against Cagliari ended scoreless.

On Saturday, Ivan Juric’s squad will play a Milan team that has improved greatly since the start of the season. The Rossoneri are heavy favorites to win on Monday night at the San Siro after cruising to a 2-0 victory against Bologna.

It would be a mistake to underestimate the visitors, Torino, who have beaten Milan twice in their last three meetings despite being underdogs in each of those contests. Juric has kept his team tight on defense by relying on efficient set pieces and counterattacks.

The defensive strength that made La Granata the league’s fifth-best last year has been on display in their matchups against Milan recently. In the last five meetings between these two teams, Juric’s side has held the Rossoneri to just three goals.

Torino have had trouble committing adequate resources to their offense due to their emphasis on defense. So while they have been successful in keeping Milan at bay, they have only managed to score in two of those games.

Although results in previous meetings have been good predictors of what would happen on Saturday, the addition of new players by Milan over the summer has thrown a wrench into the works. Christian Pulisic, a recent signing, set up the second goal in Monday’s match against Bologna by combining nicely with Olivier Giroud, a former Chelsea teammate.

There are a lot of fresh players for Stefano Pioli to choose from for Saturday’s game. Christian Pulisic, Samuel Chukwueze, Noah Okafor, Lorenzo Colombo, and Luka Romero are all vying to join the front three alongside Yunus Musah, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, and Tijjani Reijnders.

Torino supporters will be familiar with Ivan Juric’s starting XI, with the exception of Wilfred Singo and the addition of Raoul Bellanova. The Granata will continue playing with a 3-5-2 formation, with Ricardo Rodriguez or Koffi Djidj as the starting center back.
