Caio Borralho and Abus Magomedov will meet on November 4th in Brazil in a bout that could decide the middleweight division title race. Both bring impressive records into battle.
Borralho is currently the favorite for this fight. Representing the Fighting Nerds camp, Borralho has shown himself to be an impressive fighter so far; winning three fights via unanimous decision with another being an early first round TKO over Jesse Murray.
Borralho, known as ‘The Natural,’ boasts a comprehensive set of skills that has contributed to his success in mixed martial arts. These include an effective offensive arsenal including big left hands and high kicks; power double-leg takedowns; as well as powerful outside trips off body locks for power takedowns and outside trips off body locks. His record in MMA boasts four TKO/Submission victories, which prove that his finishing ability cannot be ignored.
Borralho will likely look for victory early in this fight against Magomedov, given that Magomedov has struggled in his last two outings. Although Magomedov is an extremely skilled striker, his performance during early rounds has not been his strongest suit and this must change against Borralho.
Magomedov hasn’t had much opportunity to showcase his grappling prowess early in any of his fights, which could make him less-than-certain as an early option here. Although Dagestan-born Magomedov boasts six wins on the mat so far, in his debut win over Dustin Stoltzfus he had difficulty keeping opponents off him on feet or in clinch positions, something which may affect him come November.
Magomedov did not appear to be gassed in their first fight, which is good news, yet still cause for concern. Magomedov is an aggressive offensive striker without enough stamina to sustain an entire bout, which could prove troublesome when facing someone with Borralho’s physical abilities and superior striking and pressure skills.
