Ignacio Bahamondes and L’udovit Klein have both made impressive first impressions since joining the UFC, with Ignacio and L’udovit making an early impression at featherweight respectively. Now they meet for an opportunity to showcase their skills and possibly earn themselves a top ranking position.
Bahamondes of Chile follows in his father’s footsteps with martial arts and began kickboxing before transitioning to mixed martial arts (MMA). In 2020, he was invited to compete at Dana White Contender Series 34 where he won his opening match by knocking out Edson Gomez in two rounds and eventually earning himself a contract from UFC. Since then, Bahamondes has won three consecutive fights, including a third-round submission finish over Rong Zhu and unanimous decision against Roosevelt Roberts, after dropping his UFC debut to John Makdessi in 2021 via split decision.
L’udovit Klein’s career gained the essential attention and momentum after capturing the attention of Slovak MMA icon and previous Bellator Light Heavyweight champion, Attila Végh. His career as a professional led him to multiple regional promotions throughout Europe because he was previously an accomplished amateur. At UFC 253, he eventually got his chance to fight within the UFC as Nate Landwehr’s substitute. He made his UFC debut in late 2020 after winning the fight via K.O. L’udovit Klein is currently undefeated in 3 fights after losing a pair to Michael Trizano and Landwehr. The southpaw’s most recent encounter in the Octagon ended in a unanimous decision loss to Jai Herbert at UFC London in March.
Both fighters boast impressive finish rates and will look to extend their streaks inside of the Octagon. Bahamondes may hold an edge due to his slight height advantage over Klein; this may help him score knockouts more often but must remain wary not to become trapped and submitted. This should make for an exciting matchup and it will be exciting to see who emerges victorious on August 5.
