Justin Gaethje Analysis: He has some powerful leg kicks

After losing two title bouts, Justin Gaethje (25-4) could not have had a more successful 2023. Khabib Nurmagomedov (2020) and Charles Oliveira (2022) outmuscled him and forced him to go out of the picture with the belt. Between two defeats, he prevailed over Michael Chandler in a 3-round brawl and showed why he was the “Fight of the Year.” Last year, he repeated that success by winning by majority decision over Rafael Fiziev. He then overcame Dustin Poirier with a flawless head kick knockout to achieve the biggest victory of his career and become the new “BMF” champion. Holloway will be slowed down by Gaethje’s clubbing hands and powerful leg kicks, but his defense and chin should be too strong for him to be eliminated.

Max Holloway Analysis: He’s a very strong and powerful fighter

Max Holloway (25-7) made a second attempt to win the symbolic title against lightweight. The only other time in almost 11 years that he has suffered a loss is against Alexander Volkanovski (2019, 2019, 2020). That was in his lightweight match against Dustin Poirier. Even if he was unable to match the power, his class 28 fights throughout his UFC career are undeniable. He recently won by unanimous decision against Arnold Allen and defeated the Korean zombie Chan Sung Jung in a knockout match. One thing Holloway found difficult to deal with was Dustin Poirier’s strength and power when he went up to lightweight to fight him. Although Holloway remained strong throughout the battle, The Diamond had given him a good beating and he was unable to regain his previous level of strength.
