Edmen Shahbazyan Analysis: Looking to get a better defense
Currently sporting a 5-4 record since 2018, Edmen Shahbazyan (12-4) will be making his ninth UFC appearance. Following The Ultimate Fighter, he enjoyed a great start to his career. However, he has struggled recently, losing 4 of his last 5 fights. Shahbazyan is hopeful that this time he’s on the right side because 4 of those have also ended by finish. He has a 75-inch reach and is 6’2″. Derek Brunson (2021) first battered him, followed by Jack Hermansson (2021), then Nassourdine Imavov (2021) taking him out twice. He retaliated at UFC 282 with a classic TKO of his own over Dalcha Lungiambula (2022), but that fight already seems like a long time ago. Edmen Shahbazyan faced Anthony Hernandez in his last fight, losing due to an elbow to the head in the third round. In that bout, Hernandez hit 77 of the 105 total blows that he released.
AJ Dobson Analysis: Strong fighter looking to establish himself
Since 2022, AJ Dobson (7-2) has a 1-2 record in the UFC. He lost his first 2 UFC fights against strong opponents, Armen Petrosyan and Jacob Malkoun, despite signing a contract with DWCS. He recovered with a unanimous decision win in his previous bout, and he will be hoping for much of the same. Dobson has a 76-inch reach and is 6’1″. Dobson has all the abilities to win this match, but he hasn’t yet demonstrated the required consistency. After signing a deal with DWCS, Dobson, who has been a professional since 2016, hit a rough patch.
