Colorado Rockies vs Philadelphia Phillies: Analysis & Odds 4/25/2022

April 25, 2022

Colorado will be looking to continue on their winning ways, ways which saw them take two out of three gamers in their interleague series against Detroit and ride into Philadelphia for this four-game series on a strong two-game win streak. The home team Phillies on the other side will be looking to revert their luck after having lost two of their last three games at home against Milwaukee.

For the visitors, LHP Kyle Freeland will be looking to score his first win of the season as he leads Colorado into another win to add to their column, while for Philadelphia RHP Kyle Gibson will be gunning for his second win of the season as he tries to be the backbone of a much-needed Phillies home win to start the series off.

Game Preview

Both the Phillies and Rockies were part of a rather interesting weekend in MLB these past couple of days. On the one hand the Colorado Rockies, who are coming into this four-game road series in Philadelphia against the Phillies riding on a strong two-game winning streak, were participants of a feel-good moment in recent baseball history as Tigers bonafide legend Miguel Cabrera hit his 3,000 hit in the Rockies’ 3-2 win over Detroit on Saturday.

While the moment was very emotional and one that will live on in the history of baseball, the Rockies had no problem taking that game and yesterday’s matchup against Detroit, allowing them to continue well in the fight for one of the top spots in the ever-fought NL West division.

Colorado’s offense has stepped up from early on in the season and has put up some very promising and strong numbers, allowing them to be considered one of the best units in the National League. If pitcher Kyle Freeland can offer some strong innings on the mound, the offense will surely look to deliver on their part to score yet another win today.

The Phillies on the other hand, will be trying to revert their recent luck as they come into this series carrying a two-game losing streak which included a 1-0 loss against the Brewers that has given baseball fans and experts plenty to speak off, especially after umpire’s Angel Hernandez horrendous strikeout call against Kyle Schwarber in the 9th brought the curtain down on Philadelphia’s attempts to steal a win at home against Milwaukee.

If you look at Philadelphia’s early season stats, you wouldn’t necessarily think they’re a 6-10 team, given that they have decent to good numbers all around the board, but their offense really needs to step on the gas in order to help starter Kyle Gibson today if they want to score an important first win at home in their series here.
