The Kansas City Royals will take a trip to Coors Field to start their three-game series against the Colorado Rockies. They will start strong as they’ll be using Greinke, their best pitcher. On the other side we have the Rockies, the favorites coming into this series. Though it’s important to keep in mind that they come home after taking a beating by the Giants.
Kansas City is coming right out of the gates with their ultimate weapon, Zack Greinke. He is one of the most interesting pitchers to watch, and during his time with the Astros, he gave us a lot to talk about. So far, Greinke had a good performance in the 6 games he’s started. His numbers are looking good with a 2.67 ERA and 1.099 WHIP, but going up against the Rockies will be a tough challenge.
One of the things that makes this encounter really interesting to watch is that they haven’t faced each other in an official match in almost 5 years. The Kansas City Royals won the series 2-1, but things are way different now.
The Rockies’ offense is what makes them a big threat against the Royals. Colorado is at .256 in batting average, the first in the league, and it goes up all the way to .283 when they are playing at home. They are also sixth in OPS at .721, and although their average runs per game isn’t the highest, it’s safe to say that the Rockies offense has a great chance to take over the game against the Royals.
In the end, the Rockies will be very happy to finally return home, where they shine the most. Greinke will put all his efforts into containing the Colorado offense, but he will definitely struggle. On the other hand, if Kyle Freeland gets a good start and doesn’t allow the Royals to get an early lead, the Rockies will be off to a good start in this series.
