Picks & Analysis: Adam Azim vs Aram Fanyan 09-02-2023

Game Preview

Fight Preview

British boxing’s hottest prospect, Adam Azim, will fight on the undercard of Smith vs. Eubank II at Manchester’s AO Arena on September 2 in an effort to move up to world title contention as quickly as possible and keep a promise to his hero, Amir Khan.

Azim, who is only 21, is taking a huge step up in competition in an effort to quickly enter world title contention, accepting a challenge laid down by Amir Khan, who became world champion at just 22 years of age.

Ukrainian danger man Aram Fanyan is nearly three times Azim’s age, has more than twice as much professional experience, and has only one career loss to his name. Fanyan plans to undermine Azim’s momentum and steal the spotlight from the young phenom while he is in Manchester.

The fight, which had been scheduled for June, had to be postponed after a cut Azim had during training developed into a serious bacterial infection. The super-lightweight superstar has finally healed and is raring to go for one of the most highly anticipated boxing events of the year in Britain.

Not too long ago, Azim achieved a decisive victory over Santos Reyes, despite sustaining a fracture in the scaphoid bone of his right wrist. This triumph further solidified his flawless professional career, which now stands at eight wins, including six impressive stoppages.

Now, though, he confronts his toughest challenge yet in Fanyan, who has won nine straight bouts since his lone loss. Among these victories is one over Timo Schwarzkopf, which earned Fanyan the IBO International title.

The high-stakes nature of this bout presents Azim with the potential for significant rewards. A triumph in this match will elevate his position in the WBA rankings, propelling him beyond his current rank of 10 and positioning him closer to contention for the European crown.
