Game Preview

The Twins just played the Cleveland Guardians and lost two out of three games. The Twins are in first place in the AL Central with a 69-65 record. Last weekend in Minnesota, the Twins swept the Rangers. After losing to Texas last season 2-5, they are hoping to win the season series this time around.

In their last 10 games played at Arlington, the Twins have won 8. Additionally, in their last 25 games played at Arlington, they have a 17-8 record.

Joe Ryan will take the mound for the Twins. Importantly, he has a record of 9-8 and an earned run average of 4.33 entering this game. Ryan allowed one earned run on five hits and seven strikeouts in five innings in a no-decision against the Rangers last weekend. Unfortunately, he has been struggling as of late, failing to complete more than five innings in any of his last three outings.

In their most recent series against the New York Mets, the Rangers took home a pair of victories. A road trip in which they went 3-4 came to an end as a result. The Rangers are now 75-58 and sit in second place in the American League West, one game behind the Seattle Mariners. On the other hand, they are currently in third place in their division and are fighting for the last American League wild card slot.

The Rangers will send out Max Scherzer to the mound today. Overall, he has a 12–5 record and a 3.71 ERA. Scherzer’s latest start was seven innings long, and he struck out ten batters while allowing two earned runs on four hits. Surprisingly, in four of his last six outings, he has gone seven whole innings.

The Rangers jumped out to an early lead in the American League West and never looked back. However, they have lost their steam as of late, leading to a precipitous decline in their ranks. However, they still have four regulars who can hit with serious power.

Unfortunately for the Rangers, their pitching is going in the wrong direction. They are currently ranked 14th in the league. Since opening day, the bullpen has been a problem area for the team. More importantly, it has the potential to become a concern later on, especially in the postseason.
