Miami Marlins vs Atlanta Braves: Predictions & Preview 4/22/2022

April 22, 2022

While everyone thought that the NL East would be run this season by the reigning World Series Champions Atlanta Braves, they got another thing coming for them all together, especially with how dominantly good the New York Mets have been playing this season. For now, both the Braves and Miami Marlins who just happen to be starting a three-game weekend series in Atlanta, the mission is to gain a strong hold on second place in the division, all while waiting for any mishaps or slip ups made by New York in order to shorten the lead at the top of the division and heat up the race even from so early on. For the Braves, RHP pitcher Kyle Wright will be on the mound tonight looking to put a much-wanted win on the board for Atlanta. Miami on the flipside will be sending LHP Trevor Rogers who will be looking to score his first victory of the season after going 0-2 thus far.

Game Preview

The Braves need a win, and they need a win desperately. Why desperately? Because after the thrashing they took in their series against the Dodgers in LA, where they could only score one win in four games, and considering that they are the defending WS Champions, that is definitely not a look any championship team would want to be sporting around.

The Braves have suffered because of not having their star player Ronald Acuña Jr. with them for the beginning of the season, but Atlanta still has a very strong roster to pull everything around in their favor, starting with a win in the first game of their series against NL East rivals Miami.

Between what 1B Matt Olson and 2B Ozzie Albies can do when going up to the plate, a strong outing from the defense and a solid game from pitcher Kyle Wright and Atlanta’s bullpen, scoring a win here against the Marlins to turn the boat around should not seem as much of a gargantuan mission this Friday.

The Marlins will come into their series against the Braves riding high on the victory waves after beating St. Louis last night in a great outing from starting pitcher Pablo Lopez. If the Marlins are smart they should definitely try and channel that energy that led them to victory against the Cardinals, this time against the Braves.

If they can manage to start this road series off with a win, that would definitely help in their aspirations to topple the Braves and take the 2nd place in their division, because while winning is always celebrated, winning on the road and especially against divisional rivals is celebrated with much more hype and promise. With that said, pitcher Trevor Rogers will definitely need to come out with his best material if he wants to stand a chance against Atlanta’s explosive offense, if not, then Miami will have an uphill battle from the start to the end of this game and the series.
