Miami Marlins vs St. Louis Cardinals: Predictions & Odds 6/28/2022

Game Preview

Yesterday, the St. Louis Cardinals rolled over the Miami Marlins as they picked up a 9-0 win in the first encounter of a three-game series at LoanDepot Park. Juan Yepez had his first multi-homer game ever, while Paul Goldschmidt went 4 for 4 with a home run and 2 RBI, raising the hopes for every Cardinals fan out there. Even though yesterday’s loss for the Marlins looked pretty rough, they haven’t been doing that bad as of recently. Miami was able to take a snatch a few games away from teams like the New York Mets and the Phillies.

The St. Louis Cardinals will be sending out Dakota Hudson as their starting pitcher for today’s game, making this his 15th start of the season. Hudson holds a 5-4 record with a 3.72 ERA and a 1.35 WHIP over 75 innings pitched. He took his 4th loss of the season on Thursday, when he gave up 5 runs on 7 hits and 3 walks while striking out 2 across 4.1 frames against the Milwaukee Brewers. Hudson has been constantly struggling with his control, issuing multiple walks for the 11th time in 14 of his appearances this year.

On the other side, the Miami Marlins will open things up with Braxton Garrett for the 5th time this season. He is on a 1-2 record with a 4.08 ERA and a 1.70 WHIP over 17.2 innings pitched. On June 11, Garret had one of his best games of the season. The 24-year-old lefty got a solid outing that helped them get a huge victory against the Houston Astros. The rookie has been focused on building his confidence this season, and if he manages to put up a performance like he did against the Astros, the Marlins might see their first victory of the series against the Cardinals.
