The Toronto Blue Jays are leading their three-game series against the Seattle Marines with an overall score of 9-2, which might be surprising considering that these two teams are not that far apart from each other in the standings. Yesterday, Blue Jays’ George Springer went 1-for-4 with a three-run triple in their win over the Mariners, and since his return from an ankle injury, Springer has become one of the key factors for the Toronto Blue Jays victories this week.
Kevin Gausman will be the starting pitcher for the Blue Jays, and although he is one of the best that Toronto has to offer, last Friday during his game against the Tampa Bay Rays Gausman gave up four runs on five hits and a walk over seven-plus innings. The experienced right-handed pitcher had a tied score of 2-2 by the 8th, but things started to go south really fast for him as he gave up three straight hits to start the frame. But we have to give credit where it’s due, Gausman carries a 2.40 ERA, 0.98 WHIP into this game, which are some really good numbers.
Against the Toronto Blue Jays, the Seattle Mariners will send out the left-handed pitcher Marco Gonzales as their starting pitcher, who is holding a 3.38 ERA and a 1.53 WHIP, and recently had a decent performance against the New York Mets. He allowed one run on five hits and three walks over 6.2 innings and he struck out five. The Seattle Mariners aren’t looking great in the pitching department, and considering that Gonzales will take the mound, things might not turn out great for them.
Although the Mariners haven’t been able to secure a win against the Blue Jays in a long time, they might be able to turn things around if their offense manages to perform above the expectations. Eugenio Suarez has scored 7 home runs so far in this season and although this season isn’t his best one in his career regarding OPS (.751), he’s shown that he has the right tools to secure a win for the Mariners
