On Saturday, October 28th, at the Rose Bowl, the Pac-12 foe Colorado Buffaloes will take on the 23rd-ranked UCLA Bruins.
Since 1980, the UCLA Bruins and the Colorado Buffaloes have competed in football games. UCLA has a 13-5 series advantage over Colorado. In the series, neither institution has won more than 5 matches in a row. From 2011 to 2015, UCLA captured a total of five contests in a row.
In Week 7, Deion Sander’s Colorado team was dealt a disaster as the Buffaloes shockingly lost 46-43 against the Stanford Cardinal in a game that few anticipated. The Buffs’ record now stands at 4-3 after the loss, which is still an enormous leap over their 1-11 record from the 2022 campaign.
This week, they take on the 23rd-rated UCLA Bruins (5-2), who are their fourth-ranked opposition of the campaign. The Bruins were defeated by the now 11th ranked Oregon State Beavers in Week 7 as well, losing 36-34. In a dismal outing, UCLA quarterback Dante Moore finished with 165 passing yards, a single touchdown pass as well as 3 interceptions.
On the other hand, the Bruins dominated the Stanford Cardinal 42-7 in Week 8, the Buffs’ open week. Moore lost the starting job due to his unsteady play versus Oregon State, and Ethan Garbers was appointed to start for the initial time since Week 1. The Bruins easily defeated the Cardinal thanks to a pair of touchdown throws from Garbers, who threw for 240 yards.
The UCLA Bruins and Colorado Buffaloes are both part of the Pac-12 Conference; however, following the current campaign, the Bruins will move to the Big Ten, while the Buffaloes will return to the Big 12 in 2024. After this forthcoming game, it is improbable that both of these organizations will face off against one another in football for a respectable amount of time.
