Nonetheless, the main story has several interwoven threads. This year, neither team is considered a favorite to win the division as they both have issues at quarterback.
Since 2018, the Bears haven’t been able to beat the Packers. They’ve put up with this adversity for over three decades. With Aaron Rodgers no longer on the field, fans are holding out hope that they can finally take back the rivalry.On the other hand, Green Bay’s luck may have it that Jordan Love is the one who carries on the tradition of “ownership.” Since Justin Fields has never won a game against the Packers, this opening contest might be huge for both teams.
Jaire Alexander is one of the few guys that has consistently caused problems for the Chicago Bears. Against them, he has three career interceptions. D.J. Moore, however, will present his greatest test to date. The new receiver is just as fast as Allen Robinson and just as good at running routes. Moore has faced the Packers twice in his professional career, and both times he has torched them for 251 yards on 15 receptions.
After selecting him in the fourth round, Green Bay is counting heavily on Teven Jenkins to be their starting right tackle. Last year, he had a lot of iffy performances there. Tom will likely see a lot of Chicago’s new left defensive end DeMarcus Walker in the season opener. The veteran defensive end recorded 7.5 sacks in 2017. He needs to take advantage of this mismatch if the Bears want to win. It will also be important in putting an end to the pursuit.
If you look back to 2019, the Packers have won six consecutive games against the Bears. All of them share a common thread. In every single one, Chicago had trouble stopping Clark. He has been a major problem anytime they try to run the ball inside and has recorded 4.5 sacks in those six games. The Bears’ lack of initiative in addressing their center and guard situations has been particularly irritating.
