In Week 2 of the 2023 NFL season, the New York Jets will play the Dallas Cowboys and the game will be played at the AT&T Stadium on sunday. There could be a number of exciting matchups to watch on both sides of the ball, as both teams have well-rounded lineups.
The Cowboys defeated the New York Giants, a division rival, by a score of 40-0. The Cowboys’ defense was the story of that game, not the offense. Even though the Cowboys defense caused three turnovers, quarterback Dak Prescott failed to throw a touchdown pass.
On Monday Night Football, overtime wasn’t necessary as the Jets defeated the Buffalo Bills 22-16. Despite losing quarterback Aaron Rodgers in the first quarter, they were able to win thanks to a touchdown scored on a punt return in overtime. This was despite quarterback Josh Allen committing four turnovers, three of which were interceptions. QB Zach Wilson stepped up and threw for 140 yards, a touchdown, and an interception.
Aaron Rodgers has played the Cowboys many times, especially in the playoffs, so he is no stranger to them. Offensive Rookie of the Year Garrett Wilson leads a talented bunch of receivers, and with Dalvin Cook and Breece Hall in the backfield, the Cowboys’ defense should have its hands full.
The Cowboys’ offense under Mike McCarthy’s direction will be put to the test again in Week 2. Dak Prescott, Tony Pollard, and CeeDee Lamb will have their work cut out for them against a Jets defense that allowed only 18.6 points per game in 2017. The addition of Rodgers to the Giants’ roster raises the possibility that the Cowboys and New York will engage in a high-scoring battle.
Both the defensive and offensive units for Dallas are strong, but they will be put to the test by New York’s arsenal of offensive weapons. Furthermore, despite having lost a step or two over the years, Rodgers is as shrewd as they come. Whether this turns into a high-scoring shootout or a defensive struggle, the final score will be tight.
